7 tips that would help you create a habit.
How many times have you read titles about 'the habits of successful people? Can you really develop a new habit? Isn't this something you are used to for a very long time?
Well yes, you can form a habit or even get rid of one, and here we are going to show you how you can include a new habit into your routine. And if you learn how to form a habit and make it stick to your routine, you can then implement the habits of the successful people in your routine too!
1) Be willing.
The first thing you need to have is will power. I don't ever think that anyone can reach anything without it, and if you want to change something in routine it can be uncomfortable so the only thing that will keep you going is your will for change.
2) Pick the habits that you want to implement.
This can be as simple as wanting to wake up early in the morning or wanting to exercise once you wake up, and you can search for habits that are actually useful. Identify those actions that you want to be consistent in doing, and go to the next step!
3) Law of attraction.
Have you ever heard of the law of attraction? well if you did, good news is that you can use that now, and if you don't know what it is, basically the power that your belief has over what happens into your life. Our brains listen to us and if you say I WILL do so and so and truly believe that you can, then your brain will subconsciously act in a way that will help you do that thing. So if you say for example, I will wake up early and believe that you can, your brain will make it easier for you to achieve that goal.
4) Specify the time that your habit is going to occupy in your day.
Do you want to form a habit that you will occur right when you wake up? at 2 o'clock? or before bed? you pick! Determining the time of the action will help your brain be more punctual as time goes by. Your body is going to be used to doing a certain thing at a certain time. Now if you don't specify a certain time for performing the action that you want to become a habit, it will be harder to form the habit as your brain would not take it as seriously.
5) Don't go easy on yourself.
Do not skip the action if if you feel lazy or if it makes you feel uncomfortable, you picked the action for a good reason and getting out of your comfort zone is a must, so try not to skip the action any day, especially in the first period when you are still introducing the new action to your routine. I read before that it takes from 16 days to 2 months till you form a habit, so try not to skip the action before that.
6) Ask your friends to help.
We are social creatures by nature and feeling support from someone gives us the extra energy to go on. So seek support from your friends and family, and you may be surprised that some of them are going to be willing to start these new habits with you, may be you can start a challenge together and see who would not break the habit for the longest time!
7) Finally, reward yourself.
When you are introducing change to your routine, you are getting out of your comfort zone, and make that more appealing, you can reward yourself for everyday you stick to the action.
I tried to be specific and straightforward as much as i can. Don't forget to comment down if you have other ideas that would help someone form a habit, and please if you tried these tips, let me know in the comments!
